ARCSIS, Association for the Research on Components and Secured Integrated System.

ARCSIS is an organization in charge of strengthening the microelectronics, semiconductors, photovoltaic and communicating objects industries of the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region for a national and international influence. ARCSIS also manages a major collaborative research and development program – CIM PACA (PACA Integrated Microelectronics Center) which groups together the microelectronics community around three interconnected platforms: Design, Characterization and Micro-PackS. Our mission is to encourage partnerships in R&D and develop business.

The French Riviera Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a stakeholder and operator committed to developing and promoting the French Riviera and its companies, has 4 main activities:

Economic observation, analysis and communication enabling economic actors and companies to take informed and appropriate decisions.

Coordination and support services provided by teams of specialists to increase the performance of French Riviera companies and facilitate the exchange and adoption of best practices. These services include support necessary for local and international development, and specific programmes aimed at improving retail, and helping industrial and innovative companies become more competitive. Most of the programmes are set up in collaboration with local actors.

Training and education at the service of local companies. The French Riviera Chamber of Commerce and Industry has set up and manages schools, for example, the International School of Nice, as well as specific apprenticeship programmes and institutes like the Aeronautics Training Institute, the Automobile Training Institute and the Health and Pharmaceutical Training Institute.

Management of facilities and affiliates: The CCI helps to increase the attractiveness of the region through the management of the ports of Nice, Villefranche, Cannes, Golfe Juan, and as a shareholder in the French Riviera airports of Nice and Cannes – Mandelieu, as well as by offering a range of services to its clients (cruising, yachting, tourism activities, logistic activities…)

The SKEMA Business School, resulting from the merger of CERAM and Lille School of management enabling students to understand and meet the challenges of the knowledge-based economy, within a world of opportunities.

Key figures for 2012:
Nearly 70 thousand businesses contribute to the economic fabric of the French Riviera, with 19,000 companies involved in commerce, 12,000 in industry and 35,000 in services.
The number of businesses has grown by 1.4%, generating a total of 308,400 jobs, an increase of +0.7% on last year’s figures.

 

A connected CCI, providing e-services for businesses

A new policy of proximity requires the use of new communication technologies: the French Riviera CCI’s e-services development plan is already underway and "e-proximity" is becoming a reality. In addition to the French Riviera ECOBIZ platform, made up of 43 communities, 6,700 member companies and more than 9300 members, the CCI and its partners have launched edrh06.com, a site designed to encourage the recruitment and sharing of needs in human resources management. The CCI has also launched guidedulogement06.com  with its partners to provide information and to facilitate access to housing for workers on the French Riviera. Another e-service provided by the CCI concerns the sale and takeover of companies.

Outlook
The CCI is investing 100M€ in major projects for the French Riviera as part of a five-year investment plan (2011 – 2015).

Communaute d'Agglomeration Sophia Antipolis

Since its inception in 2002, CASA has implemented mechanisms and actions related to its competences, among which economic development is one of the most important. By building structural facilities, encouraging SME’s and assisting projects such as SAME, supporting actions related to innovation, linking the European Partnerships ,the CASA is committed for strengthen the attractiveness of its territory and in particular the technology park.

CASA affirms its aim to accelerate creativity and the synergy with his new project named The Business Pole. Opened in August 2012, this center welcomes the most important economic actors (incubators, private and public associations, clusters) and SME’s (25). In November will open the last step of this project:  a place of innovation and entertainment, meeting and sharing ideas, providing meeting rooms, relaxation areas and showroom for business.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) gathers 39 technical societies dealing with electricity, electronics, automation, computers and information technologies. It has 375,000 members around the world. It is represented in France by its Section with 3,200 members. Among the different chapters in the France section, IEEE CAS is an active society. Its fields of interest are: The theory, analysis, design (computer aided design), and practical implementation of circuits, and the application of circuit theoretic techniques to systems and to signal processing. The coverage of this field includes the spectrum of activities from, and including, basic scientific theory to industrial applications.

SCS Cluster: “The Future’s in good hands”

A World Class Cluster which federates Microelectronics, Telecom, software and multimedia key players in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. It symbolizes a dynamic network of more than 260 companies (Small, Medium Business and big groups), laboratories and training centers, strongly involved in innovative projects. Our ambition is to design and develop new solutions integrating components, networks, software and systems to exchange and process information in a reliable and secure way. Our principal objectives are to foster and encourage new, innovative, competitive projects, to help SMEs to grow and develop and to participate in the creation of suitable ecosystem inside the regional TIC. The SCS cluster is endorsed by world-class industry leaders based in South of France: Amadeus, Atmel, Extelia, Gemalto, Orange Labs, HP, IBM, Inside Secure, ST Ericsson, SAP, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments, Thales Alenia Space ( ...) Since 2006, we have 288 projects certified, representing € 860 M R&D spending. A big part of those projects received more than 181 M€ of subsidies for 450 M€ spending in R&D.
 

SCS Cluster activities are also centered on support & market intelligence, business development support for SME’s, communication, animation, training and international relationships in order to help his members to increase their development and business. SCS Cluster proposals for the creation of National Reference Centers in the fields of RFID and e-Health were selected by the Ministry of Industry: the headquarters are now located in the PACA Region. SCS Cluster initiated and supported a Platform Telecom which aim is to develop a new generation of innovative and contactless solutions for Telecom Industry. In September 2010, this project was pre selected by public financiers.

Telecom Valley

TELECOM VALLEY
Telecom Valley is an innovative community that energizes IT technologies in the fields of tourism, health, eco-technologies and open sources.

A non-profit business-driven association, Telecom Valley was created in 1991 and is based in the largest European technopole, Sophia Antipolis (France). It brings together the principal IT actors in the area, from big firms to small businesses, including as well research institutes, universities, business facilitators, institutional partners and standards organizations.

The association deals with various projects and each is being managed by volunteers and gathered thematically in committees. Telecom Valley stimulates the IT industry in the Sophia Antipolis area and seeks to speed up the adoption of IT practices. Its aim is to become the reference in the Euro-Mediterranean community in terms of Internet, mobility and IT practices.
